Stock Controller – Cape Town


To handle, record and complete daily physical stock transfers on Unleashed, picking and packing of orders, managing good warehousing and replenishment of low stock items.

Perform periodic / random stock counts.

  • Actively participate in performing periodic and random stock counts (main warehouse and technicians)
  • Ensuring all items are accurately counted periodically and recorded on the correct count sheet during stock take.
  • Ensuring all items have been correctly recorded and captured onto the Excel Count Sheet Record.
  • Capturing of count records on the system
  • Accurately record/obtain and capture stock records on Unleashed.
  • Carry out stock adjustments if instructed ensuring correction allocations are done and informing the Stores Manager and Finance of any such adjustments.
  • Variance/s identification / investigations
  • Identifying why any variance/s has occurred, investigating the cause and ensuring common errors are not repeated in next count.
  • Understanding how and when variances can occur and how they can be prevented.

Prepare weekly Purchase Requisitions and capturing of stock movements.

  • Performing daily stock checks and informing Supervisor / preparing the Purchase Requisitions to ensure no stock outs.
  • Carry out daily counts on critical stock items and identify low items in the Warehouse.
  • Inform the Supervisor or prepare the weekly Purchase Requisitions for signing by Head of Department and a second Manager / Exe. Management.
  • Inform Stores Manager of fast and slow-moving lines.

Receive, check and sign stock into warehouse.

  • Checking of all stock received in the Warehouse.
  • Stock received must match invoice quantities and requirements as per the warehouse needs.
  • Physical checking of goods received against the PO on Unleashed to ensure the right stock in correct quantities.
  • Communicating any stock that is short / in excess immediately to the Senior Stock Controller.
  • Packing of all stock received neatly in the correct location.
  • Ensuring stock is packed neatly in its correct Bin location or designated area.
  • Ensuring stock can be easily located from its bin location, label and SKU code.
  • Ensuring all stock locations are clearly marked and updated as and when required.
  • Correctly receiving, recording, capturing and packing of all Stock Returns.
  • Ensure stock returned from Techs or site is:
    • correctly recorded on a Returns Form.
    • captured into System.
    • immediately put away in Bin location or Damaged Goods area.
    • Communicated that Goods have been returned to all Stock Team by email.

Order picking as per the correct picking slip.

  • Check stock requested for has the correct picking slip.
  • Ensure stock is picked accurately or set aside in designated place for a specific project using information from the picking slip.
  • Check details on the slip are correct (Site/tech, Date, Captured by and Quantities to dispatch.
  • Stock is picked as per the slip ensuring the correct quantities requested are what are dispatched.
  • When additional quantities are required by the Tech he must be sent to the office to complete the required forms.
  • Pick Stock
  • Check stock label or code to ensure 100% picking accuracy before the Tech leaves stores with the goods.
  • Ensure Outage stock is picked within 20 minutes and any changes are authorised for the required quantities.
  • Ensure all stock transfers are processed into system.
  • Ensure stock records are maintained and kept up to date on the system.

Safeguarding of stock.

  • Ensure access to the warehouse is monitored and controlled.
  • Minimize exposure of stock items to non-warehouse personnel and only authorized personnel are allowed into the warehouse.
  • Technicians to collect stock and leave.

Good Warehouse Keeping.

  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Ensure all stock is placed in correct bins and locations in the stock room at all times, the work areas are kept neat and tidy and all damaged items are put away in the correct location / bin.

Qualifications and Experience. 

  • Grade 12 / Matric or equivalent qualification
  • At least 3-5 years in a stock management / warehouse environment / Fibre (Desirable)
  • Microsoft Office (Experience in Outlook, Excel, Word)
